Herald Brass

The Herald Brass was formed in 2003 when its founder, Pastor Douglas Enck, was invited to bring a brass group to Turkey for a cultural exchange. The group consisted of a brass quintet plus a pianist and percussionist. They had so much fun playing together as they prepared for and traveled to Turkey that they decided to stay together.

Since that time, several members have changed but the group still enjoys its original purpose - to play together for the glory of God. The quintet mostly plays throughout Eastern PA. However, they have traveled, in addition to Turkey, to Ecuador, Uruguay three times, Burkina Faso in West Africa, and worship concerts on the way to and from Jackman, Maine, as well as in the Jackman Maine Community.

The group plays all styles of music, from classical to sacred, from oldies to patriotic music. A brass quintet is traditionally made up of two trumpets, a french horn, a trombone and a tuba. We have added a percussionist and a pianist to give the group a style that is their own. You can read more about each member of our group on our musicians bio page.

The concert schedule is busiest during the summer around the fourth of July and during the Christmas season, although we book concerts throughout the year in southeastern Pennsylvania. The Herald Brass also plays during the summer at camps. They have played at Summit Grove and Mahaffey Camps recently.
